Being All-In with Every Season of Life

I want to look back on every season of my life and feel like I was fully invested in it.

That means being present with where I’m at and who I’m with.

A big part of this for me is not putting too much on my plate.

It takes some trial and error to find this sweet-spot. (Sometimes I overdo it, but I try my best not to!) We need to learn our strengths and weaknesses and how to balance them out. Our different personalities play into this too. Some of us are hustlers. Some of us aren’t and we just need to cruise more. That’s ok!

We can put 50 things on our plate and do them poorly or we can put 5 things on our plate and do them well. Or maybe you just have 1 or 2 things on your plate – mom and wife, for example – and you rock those roles to the best of your ability. We all can go to bed feeling good when we’ve done our best each day. I love that feeling!

I don’t want to miss out on the blessings that God has put in my life because I’m so distracted and overwhelmed doing things that don’t matter.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

James 1:17

Bethany & Adam snuggle with Alaya and Micah on the couch.

When we’re present in our lives (often this includes slowing down or saying ‘no’ to some things), this funny paradox happens where we actually can do MORE of what matters. We allow space for ourselves to dive into the things that give us motivation and drive.

We can dig into our passions, grow, make positive changes and connect with those we love.

For example, by putting our phones down and turning the TV off more often, we have the time to go for a family adventure or work on a fun yard project. I love the idea of consuming less and creating more.

I’m at the point now where I really don’t watch tv. I probably watch an hour or two a month because I’m busy doing a lot of wonderful things that I love and I’m spending a lot of time serving my family. After I put my kids to bed, I usually do some work. Then I have to go to bed on time otherwise I’m grumpy the next morning and don’t enjoy the day!

We spend so much time scrolling and doing mindless things, but what gets us pumped?!
  • What things do you need to take off your plate right now so that you can do the other parts of your life really well? (My Be Present course is perfect if you want to learn how to do this!)
  • What areas of passion can you dive deeper into? (Check out my course on that here!)

I’m cheering you on today to soak up and be present in each season of life that God gives you!
