2 Underrated Goals To Prioritize This Year

I can’t believe that it’s already 2024! Wow, it’s crazy!

We’re in that season where everyone is trying to define their goals for the new year and hone in on their priorities. I thought I’d share two perhaps underrated goals that I think everyone should be focusing on in 2024! I am always trying to work on these!

1. Love Your People Well

It’s really easy to become self-focused and forget about loving on those around us. Think of the people that you have in your life – your friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers for example. How can you deepen those relationships with them? How can you serve them selflessly? How can you treat them better? How can you support them when they go through hard times?

The Bible says that people will see Jesus in us by the way that we love others. Since Jesus provided the perfect model of how to love others, we have endless ways to improve and love others better!

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 13:34-35

2. Deepen Your Faith

I’ve had faith in God for almost my entire life and I still feel like I have so much to learn about Him. Faith in God is a life-long journey! It requires constantly battling our sinful nature and relying on His forgiveness and mercy to continually refine us. This helps us love Him and love others well! It’s incredibly hard, but also this is where real life is at!

Sometimes it’s easy to get in a rut and let our faith take the back-burner in our lives.

Our faith should always be penetrating every area of our lives. As we look forward to all that 2024 will bring, how can we prioritize focusing on His Word?

Perhaps you set aside a daily quiet time to do a Bible study. How much time do we spend on our devices or watching TV? What if we consumed that much of God’s Word?? That could be life-changing!

Or maybe you need to commit to start going to church again and find a solid christian community. Maybe you decide that once a week you are going to go on a hike or a walk just to pray and spend time in God’s creation. There are so many options! I encourage you to pray and ask God to lead you in this!

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6

God is always faithful to draw closer to us when we seek Him.

Loving the people around me well, especially my family, and deepening my faith are always things I’m working on in my life! I think they should be everyone’s top two priorities at all times.

I’m cheering you on today to focus on what really matters in this new year.
