One of My Fav Green Smoothies

18.05.2021

It’s green smoothie time!

When isn’t it green smoothie time!? 🙂

I’m here with Kirby Dillberg, who is married to my friend and go-to natural health practitioner Dr. Dustin Dillberg. Kirby is a nutritionist who helped contribute to my book Body and Soul: A Girl’s Guide to a Fit, Fun and Fabulous Life – a good tool full of encouragement, information, recipes, and workouts. Kirby and I are gonna show you how to make one of my favorite green smoothies. This video was filmed a few years ago, but it still rings true to this day!

Drinking a green smoothie is a great way to start your day off by adding extra veggies

and also lots of antioxidants to your diet. And the fun thing with this drink is that you can add whatever you want – like pineapple or half of an apple, if you want it a bit more

sweet. Or an amino acid or pea protein supplement, like those offered by my partner

NOW Sports, to fuel your athletic routine. Just put your thinking cap on and find something fun in your fridge!

It only takes a few ingredients to start your day off on the right foot.

Ingredients:

Handful (or two) of Spinach, or Kale

Handful of Parsley

Small handful of Mint

1/2 Cucumber, peeled and chopped

1 cube of Ginger, peeled

Juice from 1/2 of a Lemon

1/2 cup Coconut Water

Handful of Ice

(optional) 1/2 of an Apple or a 1/2 cup of Pineapple

(optional) an amino acid powder supplement like BCAA Big 6, or a pea protein powder; both available from my partner NOW Foods.

Directions

Start off with a little bit of spinach. If you don’t like spinach you can always substitute kale. Put a good handful in there. I love spinach, so I usually put in a little more.

Add in a handful of parsley, again you can do more or less according to your taste. Did you know parsley is really good for your skin!?

Next, add mint – a little handful.

Now add a half of a cucumber, peeled and chopped.

Add a little cube of ginger. It is a little spicy so if this is your first time trying ginger go ahead and try half of what we use in the video. Then, if you like the taste go ahead and add the other half. I love ginger, it’s nice and spicy!

Next, use the juice from 1/2 lemon and about 1/2 a cup of coconut water which is a great way to rehydrate after sleeping all night, and helps you start your day awake and alert.

Now, a handful of ice.

Time to blend and get ready to drink! (Make sure your lid is on nice and tight.) Blend until smooth. Now give it a taste!

Green smoothies are a yummy and awesome way to incorporate more veggies and

start our day healthy. Enjoy 😋
