“We’ve got to stop, drop and pray in every chaotic or dramatic situation”

My mom raised me in with the mentality that prayer and faith in God are crucial to every part of our lives. She shared this perspective on prayer, motherhood, and raising God-loving kids at one of my recent Ohana Live Events. It was awesome!
Mom reminded us that we can call on God in every situation – whether big or small. He wants to help and He’s always hoping we will ask Him to.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Philippians 4:6
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I loved her advice to ask God in ways where we can tangibly see the answers when God provides them.
Mom suggested that we write down or record the answers to our prayers because they are part of our testimony! Then, when things get crazy we can look back on what He’s done. He may not always answer the way we want Him to, but noticing His answers and recalling His goodness helps give us peace. Ultimately when we remember how God has supplied all that we need through His Son, Jesus, we truly do have a peace that surpasses all understanding!
It is so important as parents to pass this faith on to our kids.
My mom did such a rad job of this. She taught me how to pray and she read the Bible with me all the time growing up. Fast-forward and now Adam and I do this with our kids! We focus on short bits and also love diving into the Psalms and Proverbs with them.
Watching my mom live out her faith was one of the greatest gifts to me. She planted that seed of faith in my heart. I have now developed a deep faith of my own and I know that if I ever have questions or need advice on these things, I can go to her.
Parents, I encourage you not to overlook the importance of praying with your kids and teaching them about God’s Word. That is the most valuable thing you will ever do!
