If there is one word to describe Bob Goff it is PASSIONATE. Bob has a fire in him that is exciting and inviting and sparks joy in anyone around him.
He’s the kind of man who makes you smile and feel pumped up for life – YOUR life! I’m thrilled to introduce you to Bob Goff, a guest in the Live Your Passion (what else?) course in my Unstoppable Life program.
Bob describes himself as a “recovering lawyer” because after 25 years practicing law he gave up his law firm to pursue writing and speaking full time. “Bob has inspired millions to dream big and make life more awesome. He is driven by a desire to help others unlock their potential to love and be loved greater.” Like me, Bob has a passion for being present and being available to those around you.
Bob has written three books, “Love Does”, “Everybody, Always” and “Dream Big” (which just came out in July). I want to share a few highlights of our conversation with you today.
Connect your passion to a deeper purpose. We talked about how the true joy in discovering and living your passion is when your passions are rooted to meaningful purpose. Passion without purpose will be lacking. The word purpose doesn’t need to intimidate – loving others well is the most purposeful thing you can do!
Be there for people – it’s the highest expression of love there is. Bob encourages us to start small – love your neighbor – take the things that bring you joy and turn them into expressions of love for those around you. If you don’t know where to start you can begin by simply being curious about other people. Ask questions. Listen. No need to fix, just be present for others.
Surround yourself with people who are life-giving. Bob notes that many people are insecure and cynical, and we can fight cynicism by caring for others genuinely. I think it is SO important to surround ourselves with people who call us up and don’t bring us down. We will live in our passion and our purpose more easily when we have people in our life to support and encourage us.
