The Man Who Will Celebrate You
Psalm 119:9, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.”
I love getting parenting advice via other moms, podcasts, and books. Currently I’m reading a book about teenage boys and their hormone changes. I’m kinda scared… “Lord help me trust in you!” My boys are only 3 years and 1 year old – ha ha- but I’m already getting paranoid. Gonna start praying.
All these thoughts about boys and hormones has me thinking about the beauty of marriage: one husband and one wife. More specifically about the beauty of saving yourself for marriage. It’s funny that this is now the “old school” way of approaching relationships and sex. If these words look like aliens on the page to you, try asking your mom or an older woman their perspective.
My take is that purity is not out of fashion but instead a timeless virtue.
Nowadays, being a virgin on your wedding day isn’t something that’s super celebrated. Actually, the opposite is glamorized: living a promiscuous life and exploring multiple sexual partners before marriage. But that isn’t what God wants for us. God’s design takes into account the impact physical intimacy has on our hearts, not just our relationships.
Our all-knowing and benevolent Heavenly Father designed His laws for our good, to protect us, and to give us a life of deep fulfillment, purpose, and true beauty. When we trust even this aspect of our relationships to the Lord we will find that the communion of marriage can be the most beautiful gift He has designed.
But let me tell you, it takes patience! And it’s not easy! But I’m deeply thankful I waited for my hubby. I don’t share this to boast, but rather in hopes that it might inspire patience and commitment in you for that one lucky man you will one day call your husband. And what a gift you’ll be giving to him! I PROMISE, the wait for your husband is well worth it. Deep and lasting sweetness awaits you.
Check out Ephesians 5. Among other things, this chapter reminds us to not be deceived by the world about things like lust, sexual immorality, and other forms of darkness. It goes on to talk about the beauty of the husband and wife relationship, designed by God as a relationship showered in mutual love and respect.
Turning and yielding this part of our life is a bold move. But what if you have already slipped in this area? God is a gracious God and no sin is too great to separate us from God or His amazing unconditional love. And everyday, God says “I am making things new.” Tomorrow is a new day, with a new start. Ask for forgiveness, ask God to cleanse you and make you new. Make a new vow and recommit to purity.
So regardless of your past, from this moment on, let’s commit to being strong and, “Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord” Ephesians 5: 8-10.
With Christ I know you can be patient as you seek the man who will celebrate you in all your beauty, as Christ does!
When you’re unstoppable, you live each day, making choices based on what God says is best for you.
This is my hope for you.

I’m curious, what allows you to be patient in life? What mindsets, practices or beliefs have helped you grow in the area of waiting on God’s timing?
