Navigating Friendship in Today’s World

We all long for meaningful connections in our relationships, right?

For teen girls today, friendships can become tricky to navigate. Whether it’s conflict with friends, growing through insecurities, or trying to manage the ever expanding world of social media, girls in today’s culture face more challenges than ever.

To help us with this topic of connections and friendships, I invited best selling author and speaker, Kari Kampakis. Kari knows a thing or two about raising teen girls. She is the mother of four girls between the ages of 12 to 19.

Her work has been featured on the Today Show, Huffington Post, Christian Parenting and more. Her recently released fourth book, More Than a Mom: How Prioritizing Your Wellness Helps You (and Your Family) Thrive, is encouraging moms nationwide. Check out this clip from a recent ‘Ohana Mother Daughter Live Event where Kari shares some of her wise insight with our teens.

I appreciate that Kari reminded us that it’s not unusual to go through a lonely season of friendship. This is why it’s so vital to root your identity in Jesus. People will inevitably let us down, but God’s promises to us never fail! Kari encouraged us to find friends that will help us grow into the best versions of ourselves!

In this next clip Kari turns her attention to our moms as she talks about “10 things teen girls wish their mom knew”:

I love what Kari shared!

She explained how women are notoriously hard on themselves at every age. Kari encouraged us to be gentle and gracious to ourselves and others! This was such a needed reminder!

And moms, Kari encourages us to be patient with our daughters. Remember they are learning and growing; the person they are today is not the same person they will be 5 or 10 years from now.

Helping our daughters develop wisdom in their friendships will not only equip them for a lifetime, but it will also strengthen your role as mentor in her life.

Sending you lots of love today!
