My True Identity…
How has your identity shifted over time?
In my conversation with Jenna Kutcher on her Goal Digger Podcast we talked about identity and Jenna asked me that very question.
While my roles (daughter, sister, friend, competitor, professional athlete, speaker, wife, mother) have shifted significantly with different stages of life, my true identity has stayed the same:
I am a beloved child of God…always have been, always will be.
In my conversation with Jenna, I touched on some additional elements of anchoring my identity…
- Living with purpose.
- Knowing my value and worth.
- Being empowered in my daily choices.
- A positive and confident self-concept.
- Having something to work toward.
- Saying no, having boundaries, not overloading my plate.
- Letting go of unhealthy comparison.
The amazing thing is, we are ALL loved by God…and if we live our lives leaning in to, anchored and empowered by that identity, we will truly be Unstoppable. So our ever changing roles and circumstances will not mess with our known identity.
1 John 3:3 reminds us of who we are, “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”
I have had a strong sense of purpose and worth my entire life, and that has empowered me in my daily choices, and fueled my positive and confident self-concept. I want this for you too!
Anchoring your identity is a topic in my Unstoppable Year Course and I look forward to unpacking it more with you there. I talk with Adam my husband about this topic and also Tim Tebow. There is some rad stuff shared!
Anchor yourself to God’s love and promises and let that core identity encourage and empower you daily.
With care,
