In Need of Rest

I think we are attracted to watching the sunset because it forces us to sit still, enjoy the moment, the beauty, and simply be present. It’s really restful.

Restful moments can be hard to find, but we can always find rest in God and His truths for us.

Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Morning and night I can lay down my burdens in prayer to the Lord because He cares so deeply for me. But this is not just reserved for me, this gift of resting in Him is for all of us.

When I’m unstoppable I find rest and peace in God regardless of my external circumstances.

Pray with me:

Dear God,

Thank you for saying that I can come to you when I am weary and heavy-laden. Thank you for trading my burden for rest. Take my yoke. Help me learn from you. Thank you for being gentle and humble in heart. Thank you for offering me a place that I can find rest for my soul. -Amen

Take Action:

Let’s all take 5-30 minutes today to rest. Take a picture before you start and show us your moment of exhale. Then turn off or put away all distractions and devices, and just unwind. Show us your place of rest at #BUnstoppable.

Journal it:

When was the last time you experienced deep and meaningful rest? What areas of your life can you bring to the Lord and trade them in for rest? What actions, people, situations, moments or places allow you to totally unplug, unwind and let go?
