At some point in our lives we all get stuck in a rut when pursuing our dreams or goals.
That “rut” may look different for you than it does for me, but I think we all know what it feels like to be in a place of not being satisfied with where you’re at. Or, the rut may be the feeling that life is pushing against your every effort and you’re just lacking the motivation to push through. But we don’t have to stay in the rut! There is way to get past those barriers and live with ambition!
I’ve hit so many of those walls when I was going after my competitive surf career.
Time after time my efforts weren’t producing any success, and I was left frustrated and wondering what to do next. I was reminded that I can’t sit and dwell on my failures and feel sorry for myself, instead, these moments were a reminder for me to go back to my “why,” and to focus on the things that I’m passionate about. Focusing on these two things (purpose and passion) have given my life so much direction and meaning!
Find out what you’re good at. Find out what lasts. Begin to recognize what things are most important to you, what things you absolutely love and are naturally driven to pursue. Become passionate about things that have meaning for you and then connect your passion to other people.
It can definitely be a journey to discover your passion – and that’s normal!
Once you find your passions, life’s purpose becomes so much more clear.
In my Unstoppable Life program, some of the most fun conversations I get to share with you are in the Live Your Passion course. That’s because living life pursuing what you’re passionate about is SO MUCH FUN!! And if you don’t know what you’re passionate about, my TWO rad guests in that course, Bob Goff and Mike Coots, along with our actionable steps, are there to help you figure it out.
Here are some more words of encouragement for you today about Living Your Passion:
Your Passion = Your Purpose.
“I think God’s hope and plan for us is pretty simple to figure out. For those who resonate with formulas, here it is: add your whole life, your loves, your passions, and your interests together with what God said He wants us to be about, and that’s your answer.” – Bob Goff
“Your life’s calling is that place where your greatest joys and the needs of the world intersect.” – Frederick Buechner (check out Called to be You for more thoughts related to this quote)
“If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.” – Bishop T.D. Jakes
Passion Drives You.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” -Harriet Tubman
“If you don’t love what you do, you won’t do it with much conviction or passion.” -Mia Hamm
“Passion is the spark plug in the engine of the excitement of life.” – Mike Coots
Cultivate a Passion for Growth.
“I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” – Albert Einstein
“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.” – Anthony J. D’Angelo
Living with Passion and Purpose Glorifies God.
“The glory of God is a human being fully alive.” – St Irenaeus
Remember, passion alone isn’t the goal, you have to connect passion to a purpose. The good news is that you can become passionate about almost anything you do if it aligns with your purpose. The biggest win is marrying the two. Connecting the things you love (your passion) with your deeper WHY (your purpose).
