What’s the Point of Working Out??

You know how much I like to get a good sweat on!

I work out for my overall health. I enjoy working out in the water and on land. I work out to have fun with my loved ones. I work out to stay healthy and keep my body functionally strong. I work out for the joy of it – and in gratitude for a body that can do amazing things!

If you’ve joined along in any of the Facebook Live workouts from the past year or so, you know that I often mention two things related to exercise…

1. What is Your Why? What’s your motivation for working out? I work out to surf better, to be healthy, and to be functional in daily life. My focus is not so much on my physical body, but more on my health and character, like I talked about here in True Beauty. So what is your work out “why”?

2. Keep it Simple and Keep Moving. Sometimes we get bogged down by finding the perfect time and place, or the perfect workout, when the reality is “perfect” doesn’t exist and striving for it can paralyze us and prevent us from working out at all. Keep it simple. Just move! Adaptation is essential in all things and working out is certainly no exception. I’ve been known to adapt and include my little ones in my workouts… like this!

Adam and I recently released an Unstoppable Workout Series to help you get started if you need some direction. The series includes 5 full length workouts that are for you to do in any order you choose, plus 2 bonus videos (“Ab Routine” and “Stretch Routine”). The series is simple and approachable, in the hope that you can learn and realize that you don’t have to be a crazy workout person whose life revolves around the gym. In fact, you don’t even need a gym – you can make exercise a simple and fun part of your life in order to support you in the areas that are the most important to you!

We hope your purpose for working out is beyond being “ripped/skinny” and instead your focus is on living a balanced lifestyle. Involving movement into your routine will encourage your overall goal of living a beautiful Unstoppable Life!
