The Greatest Ripple Effect

I find that in life when we are being the best version of ourselves, we have a huge ripple effect on the world around us.

It can do so much more than we even know!

It’s so heartwarming when people come to me and say that I’ve inspired them to do something new or overcome their obstacles. However, I don’t do all that I do to simply be an inspiration, I just do it because I love it. It’s just me being me!

So many of the things I did throughout my life naturally attracted attention. It felt like everyone wanted to hear from me, be a part of my life and be inspired by me. As a teenager that was super hard. I really didn’t like being in the limelight and I was really thrust into it.

Part of me wanted none of it and so I would just go surf. The ocean was my happy place and my space to just recover and breathe. It was an escape to kind of just be me, turn the noise off and slow down.

Yet, at the same time, I was thrilled that my life was having such a positive impact on others.

My mom raised me to view the world with the perspective that people need help. I already had this idea that I was going to use my life to bless others. I didn’t know what that was going to look like, but I wanted to help people somehow.

Then I started receiving letters from people from all over the world! It was crazy! So many of the letters said things like, “I got back on my ‘board’ because you got back on yours”. I was just blown away by that!

It is so cool that just by me being me, I can encourage other people to be the best version of themselves.

We each can have such an impact on the people and world around us. I encourage you to really lean into your talents, strengths and passions! God has given them to you so that you can use them for the good of others and for His glory!

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10

Here are a few questions to help you identify these strengths & passions:

  • What do you love to do?
  • What comes naturally to you?
  • What makes you really excited?
  • What are you good at?
  • What are your dreams?
  • What makes you cry (tears of joy or of sorrow)?
You don’t need to be an incredible surfer or have some wild “comeback story” to make an impact.

It can be as simple as doing what you do well. Maybe you’re a great listener and you can make a friend’s day by listening to them when they’re going through something hard. Maybe you love coaching or teaching and you intentionally encourage your players or students. The options are endless!!

People will be inspired by you when you live as the best version of who God created you to be!
