A Grateful Mindset Will Have a Domino Effect
I was recently asked how others can harness the ability I have had in overcoming the loss of my arm and continuing to overcome challenges throughout my life.
My answer to the Happiness Adventure podcast audience (and to you)…Thankfulness.
If there is one word that comes up in almost every interview I do and definitely in every course in my Unstoppable Life program, it is GRATITUDE.
Gratitude helps you to take your eyes off the negative, the problem, the bummers in life, and instead recognize what you DO have, what you CAN do, what you HAVE overcome already.
How do you work on Being Present?…live each day thankful for what you have. How do you Overcome Obstacles?…Be grateful for the opportunity to adapt and turn obstacles into opportunities. How do you Optimize Health, especially mental/emotional health?…live with gratitude every day! Be thankful for the blessings in your life and it will spill over and help you to Bless Others. I could go on and on. We didn’t need to do a separate course on gratitude because it literally permeates every topic in the Unstoppable Life. *This is worth paying attention to.* Gratitude links to every element of my Unstoppable Life courses, and it is brought up by every guest. Gratitude is a Super-Mindset.
Hold on, let’s consider the opposite. I can see how lack of gratitude could wreak a negative effect on life. It could steal from relationships, resiliency, passions, and so much more. I think that ungratefulness will lead to a life that is filled with pain, depression, hatred and more of the not-so-good things in this life.
I encourage you to start to catch yourself in the negative moments and flip your view. Argue with yourself if you must. Change your lens to the good and beautiful view of life!
Staying grateful, looking for the good, holding tight to your passions, celebrating those around you, and getting support are all key elements to overcoming and adapting.
Hurdles will continue to come and they will change shape throughout life, we know this (see Take Heart post), but the “super-mindset” of gratitude will help you overcome each time.
Gratitude helps you to take your eyes off the negative, the problem, the bummers in life, and instead recognize what you DO have, what you CAN do, what you HAVE overcome already. There is almost always joy to be found within the struggle. And if you are having a hard time identifying the joy, ask a trusted loved one to help you see it.
Also living with a grateful mindset will have a domino effect. We will either continually be grateful, or the opposite, which will bring no good to this life. The choice is yours.
Gratitude leads to perspective. Gratitude and a positive attitude can empower adaptation. Thankfulness is a super-mindset that will help you overcome and be Unstoppable – in your life and in your challenges.
