WSL Big Wave Awards Nominee
Bethany Hamilton adds to her legendary reputation by earning a nod as a Women’s Best Performance finalist for the Big Wave Awards.
World Surf League reports: “Bethany Hamilton’s tow-in session at Jaws on January 4, 2016 was the realization of one of her lifelong dreams. This video by Shannon Reporting was a submission in the Billabong Ride of the Year category, which, along with numerous still shots of Hamilton’s performance that day, flooded the submissions box.”
Now, the big wave charger is one of five nominees for 2016 Women’s Best Performance!! The winner will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony in Southern California.
The Women’s Best Performance Award is awarded to the female surfer who not only puts on the greatest number of outstanding performances in the most diverse number of venues, but also demonstrates a high level of excellence in water safety leadership. Both paddle-in and tow-in disciplines are considered.
