Exciting news for the Irish theatrical release of Soul Surfer on September 23, 2011!
The release of the movie in Ireland has been specially set to coincide with the European Surfing Championships and goes on release in Ireland and the UK on the same weekend.
Soul Surfer will receive its gala Irish screening following the opening ceremony of the European Surfing Championships in Bundoran on Saturday September 24th.
There happens to be an Irish connection – and a very special one to the people of Bundoran – Bethany is descended from a well-known Bundoran family, the Hamiltons of Hamilton Hall. Bethany and family visited the town around six years ago to find out more about their heritage.
Speaking on the announcement of the news, Eurosurf Bundoran Press Officer Shane Smyth said “We are thrilled to have the gala Irish screening of SOUL SURFER as part of the opening festivities for Eurosurf. Such an inspirational film is bound to inject even more enthusiasm for the competitors taking part in the European Surfing Championships as the contest prepares to kick off. Having already seen the film, I can say that viewers are in for a treat – some stunning photography and some awesome surfing”
